1975 VINTAGE VERY RARE

Refined, elegant, this tarot will slip under your fingers, your sensitivity will flourish and you will have the impression of being in a state of ecstasy as its delicacy will exalt your senses. This tarot, all in finesse and in soft colors, was designed keeping the traditional symbols and imagery. The minor arcana are easily recognizable because they have been drawn representing the divinatory meaning of the cards. This game has 56 minor arcana and 22 major arcana.

Roland Berrill, founder of the Mensa organization bringing together geniuses (accessible to IQ with a minimum of 170), is also the creator of the Moroccan Tarot of the Fez Royal. During the 1950s, he commissioned the drawings from an English painter, Michael Hobde, who died shortly after its completion and Berrill died before the first edition of his Tarot of 500 copies.

Through this deck of Tarot, Berrill wanted to pay particular attention to the link which, according to him, existed between the tarot, astrology, occultism and the religious movement coming from the Mediterranean basin and the Middle East that is gnosticism. He wanted to reflect the image of the city of Fez in Morocco in its golden age in the 22nd century, he considered it badly imaged following the fall of the city. We were able in Europe to know this divinatory tool and its draw of TArot thanks to the importation of this card game to Europe by the Gypsies.

The engravings having Moroccan landscapes in black and white as a background bring out more of the predominantly red, yellow, blue and green subjects which are not of great finesse despite their fine lines resembling those of a feather. The stage of each card is lined with a beautiful vault and golden pillars. The major and minor arcana are very similar to those of the Tarot Rider Waite from the work of Pamela Colman Smith.

As with the latter, the minor arcana are not numbered. The major cards are unnamed and have an Arabic numeral numbering affixed very discreetly to the lower part of the blades. Despite the lack of names, the Royal Fez Moroccan Tarot deck is very evocative with its arcana such as the Hermit (VIII), the Nameless Arcana (XIII) or the Wheel of Fortune (X). Being a "clone" of the Tarot Rider Waite, here too the cards of Strength and Justice are inverted.
